Sunday

Day 42 - Sunday, March 14

I've often said our plans change quickly and without much notice.  Today was a case in point.  The weather forecast for today was more rain and cold.  Yesterday we stayed "holed up" in the RV to stay out of the rain and snow.  Our reservation expired at 11:00 am and we had to leave.  I was happy to be leaving after so much rain, snow, and cold.  However ----

I woke up at 4:00am today and could not go back to sleep so I just started the coffee pot and got on the computer.  Waited for daylight to reveal more rain and snow clouds. Instead I saw a sky full of stars - no way a time to leave after what we have been through.  But we were going to have to leave.  And just when the sun was finally going to shine.  So at 8:00am I walked up to the ranger station and without going into detail, got one more nights stay due to someone not showing up last night for their reservation.  But, once again, we had to move to a different site in the campground - this time from #19 to #16. What a waste of time - but it was well worth the extra effort to stay here for a day that turned out to be all blue sky!  We made the move, walked the dogs, drove to a trail head and did a 3 hour hike, came back to camp to enjoy the late afternoon sun and sunset.  Not a bad day!

As of tonight, we have to leave in the morning.  But that could change.  As a last resort, a campground without electricity opened for the season just 2 minutes away around the corner.  Weather is to be about 10 degrees warmer tomorrow so we might "boondock" a night in the "non electric" site so we can do one more hike in this beautiful National Park.  It's really a hard  place to leave when the weather is finally this good!

Took a lot of pictrues today but will not get to edit and post them until tomorrow.

Good night from Zion!
