INTRODUCTION

The day of departure is finally within sight.  It will be Monday morning Feburary 1st, weather permitting.  But it would have to be pretty bad to keep us parked in the driveway an extra day or so.  This is our first January in Elkhart in five years and probably our last as long as we are able to RV.  It's Cold!

Those who have followed our other "adventures" kind of have the feel for what we do here with the blog.  I kind of ramble on about where we are, where we plan on going next, and then usually why we changed our mind and did something else.  But that's the beauty of motor home travel - you can go when and where you want.

We never (almost never) reserve in advance.  We have never had to stay in a WalMart parking lot or a rest area.  There is always some place to park for the night.  So at this time all we know is that we are going where the sun is shining and the temperature is above freezing.  So the choices are Florida (too crowded for RV roaming), Rio Grande Valley of Texas (not very exciting), or the desert South West of Arizona and California (where we always end up).

The "twist" this year is that we are leaving 5 weeks later than usual.  We hope to take in the best of the South West for the month of Feburary, and then slowly work our way North into Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, etc. if the conditions of sun and warm temperatures exist.  We have no idea what will happen.  It is certain we will travel as far north as St. George, Utah (Zion and Bryce National Parks) in early March, but if it's too cold to keep going north we will turn around and head for Southern California - at least that is today's plan.

That's it for now.  We really appreciate it when our friends and family leave comments on the blog so we know you are with us. There is a "comment" link at the bottom of every day's post. Simply click on it and "get back at us".  Remember, however, that everyone who visits the blog can see your comments. But feel free to call or email anytime to leave private messages.  We travel with full cell phone and internet service. Home page starts with the most current posting so you may need to scroll down or use the "archives" section to the left to navigate to where you want to start.

Finally, also in the left side of the home page you can see links to our other blogs from past travels - lots of pictures - especially the Alaska trip.  AND remember to click on any picture to enlarge it for a better view.
